An egg and sperm are fertilised outside the body, in a lab, instead of the way it naturally happens inside a woman&#8217;s body. &#8220;In vitro&#8221; translates to &#8220;in glass.&#8221; So this happens in a small dish, under controlled lab conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether it succeeds or not depends on a bunch of things like the woman&#8217;s age, which clinic you have chosen, the specific fertility issue, and a lot of couples end up going through more than one cycle before they get a positive result. At the same time, our national infertility rate is near 13%, which translates into roughly 27.5 million Indian couples dealing with fertility issues in some form.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delayed marriages, career-first lifestyles, stress, pollution, and PCOS cases going up, lifestyle diseases all of this is pushing more couples toward assisted reproduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now what makes it an investment story and not just a health story is that out of the 5-7.5 lakh IVF cycles doctors advise every year, only about 2-2.5 lakh cycles actually get started.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is a huge gap between demand and what is currently being served, and organised fertility chains are racing to fill it, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where growth rates are running higher than in the metros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to this fact, the social stigma around infertility treatment is fading fast. It is a Hyderabad-based hospital chain that built its name on paediatric and maternity care under the BirthRight brand, running well over 240 facilities across 9+ cities today.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fertility entered the picture later, when the company started rolling out IVF services alongside its women&#8217;s health units.
