Banks became wary of lending to each other, fearing insolvency, which froze credit markets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The panic spread throughout the financial system. Major investment banks like Lehman Brothers collapsed, and stock markets around the world crashed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Businesses struggled to get loans, hindering their ability to invest and grow.
